Intended Learning Outcomes

  • To appraise the different views of interest using transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
  • To outline the main parameters of left ventricular (LV) systolic function used on clinical grounds
  • To integrate the main parameters of LV systolic function into clinical practice.
  • To interpret the clinical value of ‘static’ parameters to evaluate fluids requirement
  • To illustrate the prediction of fluid responsiveness using ‘dynamic’ parameters
  • To integrate the parameters of right ventricular (RV) systolic function and the assessment of pulmonary artery pressure
  • To illustrate the use of these parameters in clinical practice.
  • To outline the EDEC Diploma process
  • To evaluate the severity of an aortic valve disease for a non-cardiologist
  • To evaluate the severity of a mitral valve disease for a non-cardiologist
  • To illustrate the steps required for the assessment of patients with infective endocarditis
  • To assess a clinical case illustrating the assessment of fluid responsiveness in an ARDS patient.
  • To analyze the findings associated with pericardial effusion / tamponade
  • To analyze the findings associated with acute aortic dissection
